Capito Applauds House Passage Of The FAA Reauthorization Conference Report
2/9/12
Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., applauds House passage of the FAA Reauthorization Conference Report. The report will be sent to the Senate where it should receive bipartisan support and then will be sent to the President’s desk.
“We’ve passed dozens of FAA extensions since 2007 which has caused great uncertainty in the aviation industry. This Conference report is the product of long negotiations and tough choices, proving that both sides of the aisle and both sides of the Capitol can work together,” stated Capito, a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “The report contains smart reforms, like responsible funding for NextGen technologies, without raising taxes or passenger facility charges. Most importantly, the report provides long-term certainty and stability for the aviation industry.”
According to the federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. aviation industry currently accounts for nearly 11 million jobs and contributes $1.3 trillion to our nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).
